Can We Handle the Truth? A Study of X’s Community Notes

Community Notes is now the template every major platform copies for content moderation. It’s free, crowd-run, and fast becoming the industry default. I ran an experiment: I gave X users notes the platform’s own crowd had already ruled on, and found their verdicts frequently disagreed. This talk unpacks why, and what it means for anyone building a “community” feature to do a job the community was never actually built for.
